Capris for spring

As the weather is getting warmer I continue working on Little Monkey's spring wardrobe. The Serendipity capris is the newest addition.

A while ago I made a pair of corduroy pants using the same pattern. I have been waiting patiently until it got warm enough to make a pair of capris. Little Monkey paired them up with a ruffled tee-shirt and a cardi her Babushka made for her. She looks so adorable and girly in these photos!

This little person might look girly, but take her to a playground, and she will instantly start running, climbing and jumping! What can I cay - Little Monkey by name, little monkey by nature!

The capris are made from gorgeous denim chambray I bought from House of Cloth. I could not think of better fabric for this project. The yoke and the cuffs are made from the same fabric as the rest of the capris, just sewn wrong side up.

My four year old is only size two around her waist and hips. These capris are size 2 width with size 4 length. This was the first time I remembered to make the top of the pants 'deeper' as well. Just like last time, I made the waistband adjustable.

I spent forever wondering how to decorate the yoke. Then I remembered that Tasha used two different coloured threads to topstitch her son's jeans and that I loved the effect. I picked one of the fancy stitches on my machine, pulled white and light grey threads through one needle, and got the effect I was after.

This is a great pattern for little girls who want to look like little ladies while behaving like little monkeys :)

    1. Thank you Annie. I usually give her a few options and she chooses what she likes best, or something different full stop :) We were visiting family out of town, so there were not that many options for her to choose from this time.

    1. I bought this pattern after I saw your pants (and Sara's from Made by Sara). The pattern is so simple, and the final result is so cute and comfy! I am sure Elena will like them too :)

  13. A perfect playground outfit! She looks so cute. I love how you used the reverse side of the fabric for the yoke and cuffs - clever!

  14. These are so fun and they have a vintage feel to them. I wish M would wear shorts/pants but she's all about skirts and dresses these day. One day I'll get to sew some cute capris for her!

    1. Thank you April. Do you think these have a vintage feel about them because they are wide? My daughter prefers dresses too, but she also needs shorts and pants, so I still make them, and make a dress in between hahaha

  15. I have never thought to use two threads through the one needle, Jenya. Will have to give that a go. The capris look great with the contrasting cuffs. So practical, too.
