A while ago I made a pair of corduroy pants using the same pattern. I have been waiting patiently until it got warm enough to make a pair of capris. Little Monkey paired them up with a ruffled tee-shirt and a cardi her Babushka made for her. She looks so adorable and girly in these photos!
This little person might look girly, but take her to a playground, and she will instantly start running, climbing and jumping! What can I cay - Little Monkey by name, little monkey by nature!
The capris are made from gorgeous denim chambray I bought from House of Cloth. I could not think of better fabric for this project. The yoke and the cuffs are made from the same fabric as the rest of the capris, just sewn wrong side up.
My four year old is only size two around her waist and hips. These capris are size 2 width with size 4 length. This was the first time I remembered to make the top of the pants 'deeper' as well. Just like last time, I made the waistband adjustable.
I spent forever wondering how to decorate the yoke. Then I remembered that Tasha used two different coloured threads to topstitch her son's jeans and that I loved the effect. I picked one of the fancy stitches on my machine, pulled white and light grey threads through one needle, and got the effect I was after.
This is a great pattern for little girls who want to look like little ladies while behaving like little monkeys :)
This really is a gorgeous pair of pants! Need to check the pattern out!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mieke. It really is a great and easy pattern :) I saw a short version on Kollabora... made me think ;)
DeleteThese are adorable! I love the band at the bottom, and what an awesome idea to use the same fabric, wrong side up!
ReplyDeleteThank you Wen :) This fabric is like two in one hehehe
DeleteGreat pants. I love the yoke!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suz. It is such a sweet detail, isn't it :)
DeleteThese capris look so professional! I need to make my girl more shorts and pants. And wow...that cardigan is amazing! I'm assuming Babushka is grandma? She is talented :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa. Yes, Babushka is grandma in Russian :) She is super clever indeed!
DeleteCute capris & I love the sweater/cardi her Babushka made for her!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joy :) She was a little warm in her cardi, but she did not want to take it off :) Oooh :)
DeleteI love those wide cuffs! Did your daughter styled herself? Great styling!
ReplyDeleteThank you Annie. I usually give her a few options and she chooses what she likes best, or something different full stop :) We were visiting family out of town, so there were not that many options for her to choose from this time.
DeleteLove the capris and LOVE the cardigan. Adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mie :) This cardi is LM's fave too :)
DeleteI love that last photo. She is such a honey. I love the capris too. I have the pattern so I should give them a go - I reckon Elena would love them too :)
ReplyDeleteI bought this pattern after I saw your pants (and Sara's from Made by Sara). The pattern is so simple, and the final result is so cute and comfy! I am sure Elena will like them too :)
DeleteHow gorgeous - and I love grandma's cardigan, such beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteGrandma's are the best ;)
DeleteTerrific outfit! I love those capris
ReplyDeleteThank you Veronica :) The capris are super comfy!
DeleteLovely Jenya! Pretty + practical = perfect! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Victoria :)
DeleteJenya. I love it. So pretty! The sweater is really cool, and especially since it was made by babushka! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Olga :) We both love that cardi. I bet she was a little too warm in it, but she just did not want to take it off!!
DeleteA perfect playground outfit! She looks so cute. I love how you used the reverse side of the fabric for the yoke and cuffs - clever!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Renee. I wish all fabrics were 'reversible' :)
DeleteThese are so fun and they have a vintage feel to them. I wish M would wear shorts/pants but she's all about skirts and dresses these day. One day I'll get to sew some cute capris for her!
ReplyDeleteThank you April. Do you think these have a vintage feel about them because they are wide? My daughter prefers dresses too, but she also needs shorts and pants, so I still make them, and make a dress in between hahaha
DeleteI have never thought to use two threads through the one needle, Jenya. Will have to give that a go. The capris look great with the contrasting cuffs. So practical, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam. Practical is good! These capris have already been through a wash a few times. They are having a week off this week as it feels like winter is back...
DeleteFeatured today, Jenya...
Deletethis is an adorable look. it is getting colder here and in my mind I have a lot of jackets to make... she doesn't need them though...
ReplyDeleteThank you Magda :) We had a long cold winter, so I am looking forward to summer sewing ;)
