While she was sleeping, I made a new dress for my Little Monkey.
New Look 6576 was one of the first patterns I purchased when I started sewing two years ago. Every summer I turn to this pattern to make a dress for Little Monkey (you can see one in my first blog post). Last winter Little Monkey enjoyed wearing a tunic I made for her out of my grandma's corduroy.
I may have mentioned a few times that Little Monkey especially appreciates pockets and buttons on the clothes I make her. Ta-da! Cool wooden buttons. OK, I think they are totally cool, but I was not too sure Little Monkey would share in my excitement. She said they were nice. Phew!
My husband snapped a few photos while we were getting ready to go to the Bendigo Agricultural Show. Little Monkey did not reveal her true feelings about the new dress until I suggested it was time to take it off and put a pair of pants on as it was rather cool. A few weeks ago Little Monkey decided she hated tights with a passion, however she agreed to wear them so that she could go to the show in her new dress. What? Another mummy-made dress Little Monkey approved? Whoo-hoo!
I love this simple cute dress on my daughter. I hope she will get a lot of wear out of it this season.
A great fun print and another sweet dress!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suz.
DeleteGreat job, as usual :) I've said it before LM has a great taste in fabric!
ReplyDeleteThank you Alisa :) I now let her choose fabric for things I make her. That saves a lot of drama!
DeletePretty and practical! Love it. And you've got matching flowers in the photos! great !
ReplyDeleteThank you Victoria :) These flowers grow everywhere. We have a small field of them on the side of the road. it will take LM a while to pick them all hehe
DeleteAm looking at sewing blogs this evening with my son Torin, 7. He's got lots of good comments, lovely to have his company. Over to Torin: "vghfgfghhgvcccgmmjmmjhvvvnnnnnnbbnhjjhgfghjkkkkkkkllllllll" ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Torin for your comment, it was great to hear your thourhgt ;)
DeleteGreat bright fabric, I like the wood button with it! Great to have a pattern you know works and will feature the fabric this is a very sweet little dress :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Yes, that's one of the reasons I like this pattern. it is so simple, no thrills (unless one wants to jazz it up), and it allows to feature some lovely fabric :)
DeleteOh that fabric is lovely. She has wonderful taste! Great job.
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I agree with LM - the fabric is lovely :)
DeleteIt looks great! I agree, your little monkey has great taste in fabric! The dress looks great layered like that.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ruth. Isn't it great to be able to layer things and get a lot of wear out of them!
DeleteJenya, your photos are beautiful! And what a great dress....glad she approves!
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa :) Little Monkey doesn't hate photo-shoots as much anymore, although sometimes we need to negotiate under what conditions she is willing to be a model for mummy :)
DeleteLovely dress and the buttons are fabulous! So nice to figure out your kids style and make things that they enjoy wearing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth. yes knowing what they like makes life much easier!
DeleteLove it! And it looks so adorable with those lacy leggings. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Amanda :)
DeleteThat fabric looks identical to what Gymboree had last spring. Where did you find it?
ReplyDeleteI bought this fabric from Lincraft last summer (Australian summer that is). What is Gymboree?
DeleteGymboree is a kids brand of clothing or the name of the shop that carries that brand. I learnt that from little miss aged 3
